This is a really great book for an introduction to hiring and recruiting.  It takes you through the basic stages of matching and planning through to analysing and different interview techniques. It gives you lots of ideas for interview questions and even includes some information on e-recruitment and law.  A good all-rounder for HR, Business owners and recruitment professionals.

This book is full of useful tips and suggestions on everything in the recruitment process from interview techniques, preparation and competency interviews through to evaluating and improving your interview process.  It would suit new to hiring or more experienced managers and even those candidates looking for work.

Managing Assessment Centres

By John Sponton

This is a great little book if you are just setting out on developing your own assessment centres.  It walks you through the process and gives you some great tips. Best of all it is small enough to put in your pocket to quickly use as a reference when needed on the go!

Armstrong's Handbook of Human Resource Management Practice (12th edition)

By Michael Armstrong

A bible for HR! Used by students and professionals alike.  It is easy to use as a reference and covers all the main topics of HR and Resourcing including; Workforce Planning, People Resourcing, Talent Management, Learning and Development, Pay and Performance, Policies etc. It deals with all these areas in sufficient depth without over-complicating it!

A really good practical guide to hiring the right person.  It gives you a straight forward and proven methodology that is easy to understand and implement. Although it is aimed at senior level recruitment, the principles can be simply adopted across all grades of recruitment.

By Kevin Sheridan

A great read if you want to learn more about employee engagement and what motivates each generation within your business.  It delivers advice and ideas on how to improve your culture and retain staff by drawing on real case studies and statics.  It will appeal to business owners, managers and HR professionals.
